Krueger, Adeline (Marriage - 1 Oct. 1949)

Miss Adeline Krueger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Krueger, and Lawrence Barfknecht, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Barfknecht, of Withee, exchanged marriage vows in a double ring ceremony, Saturday morning, Oct. 1, at St. Bernard’s Catholic church. The Rev. Raymond Schulz read the service and the nuptial high mass at 9:00 o’clock.

The bride wore a gown of ivory slipper satin with long pointed sleeves, sweetheart neckline, accented with seed pearls, and full, gathered skirt with bustle back and train. Her full length and blusher veils were held in place by a beaded head dress. She wore a silver necklace and earrings set with pearls and rhinestones, the gift of the groom. Her colonial bouquet was made of red roses and white gladioli. Tiny red rose buds were also fastened in the train of her dress.

Attending the bridal couple were Miss Laura Barfknecht, sister of the groom, and August Mertens, both of Withee, and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Raymond, brother-in-law and sister of the bride, of Wausau. Emil Untiedt, Jr., cousin of the bride, of Curtiss, was usher.

Identically styled dresses of net over taffeta were worn by the bride’s attendants, Miss Barfknecht choosing pink and Mrs. Raymond, blue. Net yokes created a drop shoulder effect, and bows of self material trimmed the skirts. They wore matching gauntlets and matching head dresses. Gold necklaces and earrings, the gift of the bride, completed their attire. Each attendant carried a colonial bouquet of mixed flowers.

The mother of the bride wore a corsage of yellow roses and baby chrysanthemums and the groom’s mother had an arrangement of white gladioli and baby chrysanthemums.

Dinner and supper were served to 60 guests at the bride’s home, where breakfast had been served to the bridal party. Candles and a three-tiered wedding cake served as table decorations, and a wedding bell was suspended from streamers of pink, blue, and white. Supper was followed by a reception at home and wedding dance at Merry Ol’ Gardens,

Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Barfknecht, Mrs. Lloyd Barfknecht, and Mr. and Mrs. John Verhayn, Ladysmith; Mrs. Gusta Kobs, Waukesha, and relatives from Curtiss, Owen, and Colby, Wis.

The groom is a graduate of the Withee high school. The bride, who attended Abbotsford schools, has been employed at the Home Bakery.

Mr. and Mrs. Barfknecht are now at home at the H. F. Moberg farm, west of Abbotsford, Wis.
